Celebrate Father’s Day in Style with a New Orleans Brewery and Barbecue Tour

Mid-City Must-Haves

Our journey kicks off in the heart of Mid-City, New Orleans. First stop: Secondline Brewing, a Women, Veteran, and Minority-owned gem. With a stunning outdoor beer garden, it’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy a pint of Saison Named Desire or one of their other unique brews.

Feeling peckish? Head over to Blue Oak BBQ on N. Carrollton. Started by two friends in 2012, Blue Oak has become a community favorite. Their incredible support for local causes, like raising over $100,000 for Hogs for the Cause, makes every bite taste even better. Pro tip: get there early, this place fills up fast.

Want to mix in some friendly competition? Swing over to Loft18 on Metairie Road. This sports-centric restaurant and bar features five golf simulator stalls, great drinks, and a fun atmosphere perfect for dads who like to tee off in style.

Bywater Bites & Brews

Next, we’re off to the Bywater neighborhood for more fantastic flavors. Parleaux Beer Lab is a neighborhood taproom and microbrewery with a constantly changing beer lineup. Follow them on social media to stay in the loop about their latest brews.

Just a block away, The Joint has been a Bywater staple since 2004, serving up some of the best smoked brisket, chicken, and sausage in NOLA. Don’t leave without trying their house-made coleslaw, baked beans, and mac and cheese – go ahead, treat yourself to all three!

French Quarter Favorite

Our tour continues upriver to the iconic French Quarter. Crescent City Brewhouse, the only microbrewery in the French Quarter, serves four crisp, German-style beers brewed according to the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516. Sample all four, then choose your favorite and enjoy it on their balcony overlooking Decatur Street. With a delectable menu and event space for any occasion, it’s a must-visit on your Father’s Day adventure.

If you’ve got a history lover in the group, plan a visit to the nearby National WWII Museum. It’s one of the top-rated museums in the country and a powerful experience worth building into your day.

Central City Sips

Not far from downtown, Central City BBQ awaits. Launched by two friends in 2016, this BBQ haven features a 3-time Grand Champion Pitmaster from Hogs for the Cause. Enjoy award-winning smoked wings and ribs in their spacious indoor/outdoor setting, along with a cold, rotating selection of local brews.

Afterward, keep the fun going at Five O Fore Golf + Entertainment. Whether you’re in it for bragging rights or just a few laughs, this golf simulator spot is a great way to spend an hour (or three).

What’s Going Down Uptown

Our next destination takes us toward Uptown and the Mississippi riverbend to NOLA Brewing. Founded after Hurricane Katrina, NOLA Brewing helped revive local beer-making and has since become a staple. Enjoy their eclectic tap room and upstairs patio with views of the river.

Don’t skip the cleverly named favorites like Hopitoulas, Syncopation, and the funky NOLA Funk series. It’s also an excellent venue for events, so keep them in mind for future celebrations.

Our final stop is Port Orleans Brewing Co. on Tchoupitoulas Street (say that 3 times fast!). Famous for their ‘master-brewed beers below sea level’, Port Orleans is the perfect place to unwind. Grab a six-pack to take home or order online before your visit.

Want to shake things up? Cap off your evening with a hands-on mixology class at Drink Lab NOLA, where you’ll learn the history of cocktails, make your own drinks, and pick up some behind-the-bar secrets along the way.
